01
Type of Furniture
Tables may be our favorite, but we also offer a wide variety of items. We can build conference, dining, dinette, coffee, sofa, console, and end live edge tables. We also offer desks for at home workers or offices. If you are looking for home, serving, or wall décor items, we offer countertops, bar tops, shelving, wall art, clocks, crosses, pet memorials, charcuterie boards, serving trays, cheeseboards, cutting boards, coasters, candle holders, and more. If you don't see something in this list, feel free to reach out to let us know what you have in mind and then we can go from there.
02
Wood Species
Each species of hardwood offers a unique color and grain pattern. If you are looking for a deep, rich color, we recommend Black Walnut, which is one of our most popular choices. Other local species include: Maple, Oak, Hickory, Elm, and Ash which will finish in tones of light brown, tan, and yellow. Take a look at our Wood Species Guide for additional details. Some species are more rare than others, especially with large (>30" wide and 9' long) or unique slabs (rounds/cookies, burl, specific edge patterns), which we can discuss when reviewing your overall design and budget.
03
Style of Top
Are you looking for the natural look of solid wood or a splash of color for an eccentric feel? For table tops, we offer three types: Solid Wood ($$ - little to no epoxy), Wood with Epoxy Accents ($$$ - minor epoxy), and Epoxy River Tables ($$$$ - epoxy river between wood); view our Design Styles Guide for more information. If Solid Wood or Wood with Epoxy Accents sounds like a nice fit, you have the option of going with a single, large slab (dependent on size) or joining slabs together to get the desired width. For River Tables, we can do single or multiple rivers, with straight or live edges on the outside.
04
Product Size
When considering the size of your new custom piece of furniture, it's best to factor in room/wall sizes, desired seating, base design, and how you will get it into your home. Generally speaking for dining tables, 24" of space is recommended for chair placements and a table width of 42" will feel comfortable. As we work through the design to bring your vision to life, we will review all of these aspects to figure out the appropriate size, but to start things off, don't be afraid to let us know what size you have in mind.
05
Base / Table Legs
Structural integrity is key so we pair our live edge tops with steel bases made to last. Our bases are built by our trusted base manufacturers and can be customized for shape, steel type (tubed or flat bar), color (powder-coating and clear finishes), and size depending on the desired style of the table top. Each option brings its' own uniqueness to the live edge piece of furniture. Once we receive your inquiry, we will work through these options along with providing our base product guide for you to choose from. If you have an example of a base design that you like, feel free to send us photos - we will see what we can do!
06
Epoxy Resin Color
Generally speaking, every slab will need some degree of epoxy resin work to fill in bug holes, cracks, and knots to make a smooth surface. On the other end, epoxy resin is used in large quantities if a river table design is requested. If you are looking for a more natural look, we suggest going with a Matte Black. If you are looking for a color pop, the sky is the limit! We offer almost any color shade for epoxy, so let us know what you have in mind (i.e. navy blue, hunter green, etc.) and we will provide color examples.
07
Slab Character
Are you looking for a slab(s) that have a certain design style? Slabs come in all shapes and sizes. From the traditional rectangle-shaped slabs, to the circle ("cookie") rounds, and those with burl or curved edges, let us know what you are looking for. Our local slab supplier has thousands of slabs to choose from and we also work with a few suppliers out of state for those exceptionally rare slabs (ask us about ancient burial sinker Cypress slabs). Photos can help us visualize what you are looking for, so feel free to send us photos of examples you have come across in your internet searches.
