- TRIED AND TRUE METHODS

From polyurethanes to epoxy flood coats and everything between, there are numerous finishes to choose from. In fact, we have tried most of them! How did we decide on the winner? It's simple. We focused on two key aspects:

  • Keeping the natural look of the wood

  • Easily maintainable by you, the owner

For the majority of our items, we use a hard-wax oil finish (Rubio Oil Plus 2C) followed by a Nano Ceramics Coating for extra durability and protection. If we are crafting an item that will be in close contact with food (charcuterie boards, cutting boards, and serving trays), we use cutting board oil followed by cutting board wax.

Easy maintenance for you

Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C

Oil Plus is a revolutionary, plant-based, hardwax oil wood finish. As the name implies, in just one simple application you get color and protection for wood. It is used for flooring, furniture, cabinetry, millwork and just about any wood project imaginable.

Oil Plus 2C works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibers of the wood. This results in a durable finish with great wear, water, and heat resistance, all while keeping the natural look and feel of the wood.

Oil Plus 2C is 0% VOC and does not contain solvents or water. It does not produce lap lines. It is easy to apply and maintain, and can be applied to all wood types.

Oil Plus 2C is available in over 50 colors, which can all be mixed to create endless color possibilities.

Black Forest Nano Ceramics

Black Forest Nano Ceramic Coatings are scientifically formulated to penetrate microscopic surface pores to provide a bonding layer of protection that is incredibly strong and resilient. Graphene coatings are one of the latest technological advancements to hit the coatings market.

Ceramic coatings work by adhering with the surface to form a protective shield that is next to diamond in hardness and hydrophobic causing liquid to bead on the surface. By reinforcing the surface, Black Forest Nano Ceramic Coatings are ideal in preventing and minimizing surface damage including: abrasion, chemical stains, UV damage and oxidation.

The higher surface sheen of Ceramic enhanced surfaces are easier to clean.

Our coatings are specifically formulated for use over woodworking finishes. By utilizing water based formula, no damage is done to the oil underneath, the water simply evaporates after application, leaving the protective coating.
